BSW to vote for AfD candidate for Saxony-Anhalt parliament president
The BSW, holding five seats in the new Saxony-Anhalt parliament, said it will back an AfD candidate for parliament president. The AfD holds 39 seats, equal to the combined total of the CDU, SPD, Greens, and Left. A candidate needs 42 votes. The BSW's support would put the AfD over the threshold, giving the party its first parliamentary presidency.
