Ukrainian drones struck Samara overnight, setting fire to the Kuybyshev Refinery

Ukrainian drones hit Samara on the night of September 22, starting a fire at the Kuybyshev Refinery, according to photos and videos analyzed by the Russian outlet Astra.

Samara Region governor Vyacheslav Fedorischev said on Telegram that air defense forces shot down "dozens of drones" over the region and that "the enemy was aiming at industrial enterprises." He did not mention the refinery fire. He said civilian objects including private homes and cars were damaged.

Authorities report one person killed and four injured, all hospitalized.

The Kuybyshev Refinery is one of the largest in the Volga region. It belongs to Rosneft's Samara hub alongside the Novokuybyshevsk and Syzran refineries, both of which have also been struck by Ukrainian drones and forced to halt operations.
