Oregon will notify 600,000 Health Plan members of new federal work rules starting in 2027

The Oregon Health Authority begins sending notices this month to roughly 600,000 Oregon Health Plan members about new work or activity requirements that take effect Jan. 1, 2027.

The rules apply to certain members ages 19 to 64. State officials say most working-age adults on the plan who can work are already employed, but some will need to submit documentation when applying for or renewing coverage after the requirements begin.

Oregon is implementing the changes to comply with mandates in House Resolution 1, which states must adopt to keep federal funding. The notices are informational and require no immediate action, according to the agency.

Officials are urging members to update their contact information — online at benefits.oregon.gov, by phone at 1-800-699-9075, through the ONE mobile app, or at a local Department of Human Services office — so they receive future correspondence about the requirements.
