Man and police officer wounded in gunfire exchange near Ontario synagogue on Yom Kippur

A 29-year-old man opened fire on a police officer outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville, Ontario, during Yom Kippur, triggering a shootout of up to 30 shots. The man was hospitalized in life-threatening condition; the officer was also wounded.
