White House launches "Trump TV" YouTube channel after banning critical outlets

The White House launched a 24-hour YouTube channel called "Trump TV" on Monday night, broadcasting highlights of Donald Trump's administration around the clock.

The channel went live on the White House's existing YouTube account. Its description promises "the best videos, key speeches, and most interesting moments" in a feed updated in real time. The White House announced it in three social media posts accompanied by a promotional video spliced together from clips of television shows including *Breaking Bad*, *Seinfeld*, and *SpongeBob SquarePants*. An hour after launch, the channel re-aired footage of Trump's second inauguration.

The launch came days after Trump banned CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from White House coverage on September 18, calling the outlets a "threat to our national security" and accusing them of spreading "fake news" that had "grown like a cancer." Reporters from all three organizations were denied entry to the White House complex the following day.

Little else is known about the channel's operations or staffing. The White House has not said who produces its content or what its programming schedule will be beyond the continuous feed.
